The sixth episode of the latest season of "Downton Abbey" finally left closure on the disappearance of Michael Gregson in Germany, and it's what the Crawleys has been suspecting all along -- he's dead.

Apparently, Gregson was killed in Munich after getting involved in the Munich Putsch led by Adolf Hitler, reported Entertainment Wise. This news leaves Edith Crawley in distress, and who can blame her, really? She lost the one man who truly loved her, and we're no stranger to Edith's failures in her past relationships.

Meanwhile, Edith's elder sister, Lady Mary, has also gone through a transformation following her husband Matthew Crawley's tragic death. At dinner, Lady Mary debuts her short hair styled in a severe bob, according to Hypable, and declares that the new hairdo is to show the new men in her life, Tony Gillingham and Charles Blake, "what they are missing."

Drama is also brewing downstairs at the Grantham estate. Entertainment Wise noted that Thomas had undertaken electroshock therapy and saline injections to cure his homosexuality. His physician, Doctor Clarkson, however, advised Thomas to accept the burden of his sexuality and choose harsh reality over false hope.

Bates and Anna are also struggling in their marriage after what Mr. Green horribly did to Anna. According to the Entertainment Wise report, Bates found hidden contraception in Anna's things and he is convinced that Anna didn't want to have children with him because she's scared that he killed Mr. Green.

In truth, Lady Mary asked the maid to hide the pills after her dirty weekend. Bates confronted Anna about the contraceptives, and that led to him confessing that he didn't kill Mr. Green, although he did consider it.

He revealed that he even purchased a train ticket to do the deed but changed his mind at the last minute because of his love for Anna. However, the train ticket, which will prove his innocence to the police, was found to be missing. So it looks like Bates might be high on the list of suspects in Mr. Green's murder.

Because of the sad turn of events, Edith decides to throw caution to the wind and leave Downton. Branson knew of her plan but made no attempt to stop her.

Edith then went to the Drewes' home, where Mr. and Mrs. Drewe take care of Edith's illegitimate child, Marigold. Edith confesses to the couple that she is Marigold's birth mother, and that she plans to take the child to London.

On a much lighter note, Carson proposes to Mrs. Hughes that they invest in a home together under the guise of a business venture. He said he is thinking about their future after they leave Downton and that he is inspired by Mrs. Patmore's purchase of a cottage, according to the Hypable report. Whatever his reason may be, we all know that this is as close as Carson gets to being romantic.
