Samsung has unveiled the latest product from its popular Galaxy Note "phablet" style smart devices that will be available in October: The Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The company's Note 4 is equipped with a Super AMOLED 5.7 inch screen which is the same size as its predecessor. The biggest difference this time around is the considerable increase in display resolution. The newest iteration of the Note now features a Quad HD resolution of 2,560 by 1,440, the same size as the LG G3.

The internal specs for the Note 4 include either a 2.7GHz quad-core processor or a 1.9GHz octa-core processor, depending on the region and carrier. Additionally, the device will have 3GB of RAM, and 32 GB of built-in storage along with microSD card support. Following a trend of recent Galaxy Notes, the newest model will have a large battery which now ticks in at 3,220 mAh to power that Quad HD display. This is slightly up from 3,200 mAh battery found with last years model.

The "phablet's" camera will also receive an upgrade with a 16-megapixel shooter with Smart Optical Image Stabilization, putting it on par with the Samsung Galaxy S5. A 3.7 megapixel camera will grace to front of the device.

As a replacement to the plastic frame that previous models featured, The Galaxy Note 4 will use a new metal frame to add sturdiness and new aesthetic stylishness. The device will have the same removable leather-like backing as last year's phone. The S Pen, which has been a staple of this phone series so far, has access to the sylus' quick access Air Command functionality.

Initial colors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be available in will include Charcoal Black, Frost White, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink when it is released in October. Top mobile carriers ATT, T-Mobile, Virizon and Sprint will carry the phone when it is released on October 20th.

The motivation behind the timing of this announcement is likely to coincide with competitor Apple's upcoming iPhone announcement on September 9th.
