"Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara is in hot water after a stunt she pulled at the 2014 Emmy Awards.

The Colombian, wearing an immaculate white gown, introduced Bruce Rosenblum, chairman of the Academy of Televisions Arts & Sciences, during the award show and went on to place herself atop a spinning platform, which many viewed as a demeaning move.

In the segment, the 42-year-old put herself on a pedestal while Rosenblum proceeded to deliver his speech. According to NY Daily News, the segment was lambasted over social media as many considered the move to promote the objectification of women.

One Twitter member (@samala_prosser) spoke frankly saying: "Modern Family' wins every award it's ever nominated for but apparently that's not enough for Sofia Vergara to be treated as more than a prop."

During the segment, Vergara even takes a moment to pat her bottom while her back was facing the audience prompting more attention to her derriere.

Time Magazine noted on its article that if it was meant to be a joke, it didn't catch on. "Instead, it ended with a straight-up justification for the sex-sells mentality: ‘What truly matters,' spoke Rosenblum during the segment, ‘is that we never forget that our success is based on always giving the viewer something compelling to watch'."

Ending the moment, Vergara climbed down stating: "Okay enough, enough, that's why I stopped doing the car shows!"

Vergara Responds to Critics

The beauty was quick to respond and explain that it wasn't meant to be offensive at all.

"It's absolutely the opposite," the actress said via Entertainment Weekly. "It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself. I think it's ridiculous that somebody started this-I know who she was-who has no sense of humor [and should] lighten up a little bit."

Sofia and her co-stars of show "Modern Family" took home the Emmy for the best comedy series. They are now tied with NBC's "Frasier" as the record-holding series with five wins in the category. The show held off fierce competition including "The Big Bang Theory" and "Orange Is the New Black," to name a few, noted The Rolling Stone.

The award show also featured an In Memoriam montage for actor/comedian Robin Williams, who passed away at his own hand on Aug. 11. As part of the tribute, Williams' close friend, Billy Crystal, gave a touching speech highlighting the beauty, gift and wonder that was Robin Williams.
