The highly anticipated Aaliyah biopic TV movie may have gone through difficult setbacks along the way but it will thrill fans to know that it now has its working title and more cast members on board.

Alexandra Shipp, to whom the lead role of Aaliyah went to, will be joined by other stars such as Izaak Smith and Chattrisse Dolabaille, The Wrap shared. Chatrisse will play the role of the iconic Missy Elliott and Izaak as Timbaland.

Examiner.com named the other cast members. They are: Rachael Crawford and Sterling Jarvis (as Aaliyah's parents), Lyriq Bent (as Aaliyah's uncle), Anthony Grant (as Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder), A.J. Saudin (as Aaliyah's older sibling Rashad) and Jessen Sukunda (as the younger sibling version).

However, there is still no word on who will take on the role of R. Kelly, states Singersroom.

As for the initial reactions of fans, there were those who were not so pleased with the production's choice of casting Chatrisse as Missy, with comments that she is too "light-skinned" and "petite."

Izaak, on the other hand, has the movies "Mirror, Mirror" and "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" on his acting resume.

The two characters that the newly chosen cast members will play are monumental in Aaliyah's career, especially when she released her albums "One in a Million" and her last self titled track collection, "Aaliyah."

The made for TV biopic will now be known as "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B," as confirmed by the network rep of Lifetime with The Wrap. It is based on the book, "Aaliyah: More Than a Woman."

The television movie will be produced by Aaliyah Productions, Inc. along with executive producers, Howard Braunstein and Debra Martin Chase. It will be directed by Bradley Walsh and the script done by Michael Elliot.

"Aaliyah: Princess of R&B" is set to start filming this summer for a fall premiere schedule.

NY Daily News recalls Aaliyah's shocking death when her plane crashed in 2001. She was only 22.

The movie was first opposed by the singer's family. Disney darling, Zendaya Coleman, who was originally cast to play Aaliyah, dropped out of the role.
