Paul George will not be playing the entire NBA season.

After a late-night Las Vegas surgery to treat his broken leg, one he suffered during Team USA's practice game, doctors are saying George will miss the whole 2014-2015 season in the NBA, SB Nation said.

In case you missed it, here is a footage of the leg break:

George had an open tibia-fibula fracture after attempting a block in the fourth quarter of Team USA's televised event on August 1, the report said. Team USA is in the middle of preparations for the FIBA World Cup in Spain later this month.

During the previous season, the report added, George was a key personality in the Indiana Pacers' successful bid for the best record in the Eastern Conference. George reportedly averaged 21.7 points per game and 6.8 rebounds then.

"It's a long road back," the USA Today stated, adding that the 24-year-old's overnight surgery at Sunrise Hospital was successful. Dr. David Silverberg, Dr. Joseph Yu and Riley Williams were reportedly in the operating room to supervise the treatment.

"It is way too early to speculate on his return, as the No. 1 priority for everyone will be his recovery," Larry Bird, the Pacers' president, said in a statement quoted by USA Today. "We are hopeful at some point next week Paul will return to Indianapolis to continue his recovery."

George's injury resounded across the basketball community, and his teammates at the national team are now looking at the implications to the national program, USA Today said.

Paul did not choose to be quiet, Hollywood Life noted, even if the sight of his leg hitting the base, twisting and breaking was scary, and worried fans.

He reached out to the world on Twitter on August 1 and Instagram on August 2. He was thanking those who felt for him in his moment of difficulty, including the person posing with him on the latter, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

In the post, he said the boxer gave him "great" advice.

According to Sports on Earth, the best thing to do now is "look ahead." Saying George is one of the basketball league's highest paid players, his team has to deal with the prospect of him--noted by the report, as "by far their best player"--sitting out the next season.
