Three Albuquerque teenagers have been arrested for allegedly fatally beating two homeless men to the point where the men were "nearly unrecognizable," reports the Huffington Post.

Alex Rios, 18, along with two other boys, ages 15 and 16 respectively, are currently being kept at the Bernalillo County detention facility. Their arrest comes just one day after the boys were allegedly responsible for attacking two men in a field near one of the boys' residence.

The Huffington Post also reports that Rios is being charged with two counts per victim of "murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree felony and contributing to the delinquency of a minor."

Rios is also facing three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and one count for each victim of "tampering with evidence and robbery."

The other two boys are expected to be charged with murder as adults, according to the Albuquerque Police spokesperson, Simon Drobik.

Regarding the case, Drobik said, "I personally, after reading that complaint [against Rios], was sick to my stomach because of the nature of the violence and the age of the offenders."

Albuquerque officers responded to a call Saturday morning at approximately 8 a.m., in which the caller reported that there were two bodies lying in a field.

One victim was lying on a mattress and the other on the ground. A third victim, Jerome Eskeets, was able to escape his attackers and has been hospitalized.

Eskeets informed police that he thought he recognized one of the attackers as a nearby resident. When police went to the house, Eskeets identified as being one of the assailants' homes, they found the three suspects, who are now in custody.

The younger two boys apparently live at that residence, while Rios is reportedly a friend who was spending the night the night, and was still there the next morning in question.

Rios reportedly confessed to police that he was merely a "lookout," while the two other boys "attacked both men with bricks, sticks and a metal fence pole," reports the Post.

Yet according to the other two suspects, Rios also participated in the attacks. Both younger boys have reportedly confessed that they were looking for persons to assault -- and potentially hold up -- which led to the atacks.

Based on the 15-year-old's confession, the boys all took turns repeatedly dropping cinder blocks on to the homeless victims' heads, hitting them at least 10 times. The boys then stole one victim's driver's license and debit card.

The license was discovered by police at the home of the younger teen boys.

The 15-year-old also confessed to other crimes, stating that all three of the boys had previously carried out similar attacks on homeless people in and around Albuquerque.

Police have not yet been able to positively identify the two fatally wounded men are are asking anyone with knowledge of the crime or the two mens' identities to please come forward.

Drobik also stated that if anyone with information regarding this case is hesitant to contact police for any reason, they may also relay any information anonymously through a social service agency.
