Some of the best in the world of tennis have been strutting their stuff at Roland Garros during the first three days of the 2013 French Open, and that trend will continue on Thursday as Day 4 of the Grand Slam tournament kicks off in Paris, France.

Serena Willams and Roger Federer, two of the high-ranking seeds in their respective tournaments, were all the buzz on Wednesday as Williams, the No.1 women's seed, knocked off wild card Caroline Garcia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, while Federer defeated India's Somdev Devvarman in three sets, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 to move on to the third round. On the men's side, No.4-seeded David Ferrer bested Albert Montanes 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 while on the women's side, No.10-ranked Caroline Wozniacki was stunned by Bojana Jovanovski, who took a shocking upset, 7-6 (2), 6-3 to advance in the tournament.

The action continues on Thursday when defending champion Rafael Nadal, in defense of his three straight French Open titles, takes on Slovak tennis player Martin Kližan. Nadal fended off a near-upset on Tuesday when he defeated Daniel Brands in a competitive five sets, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4, 6-3. Whether this was a fluke or an omen of bad things for the seven-time French Open champion has yet to be seen. No.1-men's seed and 2012 French Open finalist Novak Djokovis will also be in action when he squares off against Argentina star Guido Pella. And Richard Gasquet, the No.7 seed, will face Michal Przysiezny in singles action.

On the women's side, world and tournament No.2 seed and defending champion Maria Sharapova will face off with Eugenie Bouchard. Sharapova looked dominant on Tuesday when she overpowered 42nd-ranked Hsieh Su-wei of Taiwan 6-2, 6-1 in just under an hour. With No.1-seed Williams having advanced on Wednesday, the prospects of a Sharapova vs. Williams final is looking more and more like a likely outcome.

Meanwhile, No. 3 Victoria Azarenka squares off against Annika Beck of Germany while No. 9 Samantha Stosur kicks things off at Court Philippe Chatrier when she goes up against Kristina Mladenovic.
