With spring getting ready to make its appearance, it's time to ditch that dark color palette. Happier times are coming, and you'll want your clothing to reflect that. Here are the colors to look to, so you can be on-trend this spring.

Black-and-White Patterns

This is the perfect way to segue between the dreary winter season into the much more lively spring. Make sure white is the dominant color, and black is more of an accent. Brands like Proenza Schouler, Edun, Diane von Furstenberg and Ralph Lauren used this color combination in their collections.

Try: H&M pencil skirt, Harlowe and Graham swing coat, Alice + Olivia dress

Primary Colors

Bright reds, blues and yellows filled the runways. The cheery colors were used in combination many times, but taking any one of these colors will give your style a boost this season. Look to Jil Sander, Celine, Christian Dior and Prada for inspiration.

Try: TFNC swing dress, Free People Santa Fe top, ONE by Vala pants

Gold and Silver

Hope you like sparkle because you'll be seeing plenty of it come spring. And we're not just talking about a hint of metallic, designers went heavy with this trend. Shorts, jumpsuits, and pants all shined down the runway. Reem Acra, Zero +Maria Cornejo and Rachel Zoe included these colors in their lines.

Try: Free People stardust jacket, Tbags Los Angeles dress, Madewell T-shirt dress

Pale Pink

Light colors will be huge, but pink might be the one that comes out on top. Think Anne Hathaway's dress at last year's Oscars, or see how Marissa Webb and Tory Burch have interpreted the color. If the use of pink is just slightly visible, you know you're doing the trend right.

Try: Gabriella Rocha dress, ASOS peplum top, Paul & Joe skirt
