Samsung Galaxy S4s in Australia are set to receive a new firmware in mid-August that should alleviate some of the memory issues plaguing the popular handset as well as introduce some new enterprise software.

Australian carrier Telstra refreshed its Handset Updates page recently with some details regarding a certain "Android 4.2.2 'Jelly Bean Plus' update. Telstra was expecting some coding from Samsung earlier, but "Samsung have slipped the testing submission of the update to 19 July." The carrier lists the expected date that the upgrade will roll out to customers as August 19.

It's not quite clear what "Jelly Bean Plus" refers to, but a quick look at Telstra's forums shows that Galaxy S4 owners there are clamoring for the memory-increasing, business-minded firmware that recently rolled out in the United States and around the world. It's safe to say that's that the firmware Telstra is expecting.

Soon after the Samsung Galaxy S4 released it was discovered that a 16GB model came with only 8GB to 9GB of free space. Samsung has attempted to fix that with the new update, which allows users to move apps onto an SD card, thus freeing up onboard space. The Samsung Galaxy S4 supports micro SD cards with up to 64GB of memory.

The update should also include Samsung's Knox software suite. Knox is aimed at making the Galaxy S4 enterprise friendly, so both employers and employees can feel assured that professional and personal information on the phone don't get mixed up.
