2K Games has announced details about the "XCOM 2" expansions.

"XCOM 2," which will be released in February 2016, is set to have a Digital Deluxe Edition and Reinforcement Pack expansion pass, GameSpot reported. The Digital Deluxe Edition can be purchased for $75 and will come with the game's soundtrack and the Reinforcement Pack, which contains three expansion packs.

Customers can also purchase the Reinforcement Pack separately for $20, the news outlet wrote. Now that the base game can be bought for $60, users can save $5 for the Digital Deluxe Edition.

2K Games has provided descriptions for the content and release windows of these expansions. As provided by GameSpot, check them out below.

XCOM 2 Reinforcement Pack Content:

  • Anarchy's Children: will feature content focusing on rebellion and with more dramatic soldier customizations (releasing spring 2016);
  • Alien Hunters: will introduce new gameplay XCOM as an elite alien hunting unit searching for "Ruler" aliens, together with a new mission, soldier customization options, and more powerful weapons and armor (releasing summer 2016);
  • Shen's Last Gift: will offer a brand new soldier class with unique upgradeable weapons, armor, and customization features, along with an additional narrative-driven mission and map (releasing summer 2016).

2K Games announced that those who preorder "XCOM 2" or the Digital Deluxe Edition will also get the Resistance Warrior Pack. This purchase contains new soldier customization options such as outfits, headgear, and "facial war paint," GameSpot added. It also comes with a new recruit character touted as the "Survivor of the Old War."

"XCOM 2" was announced in June and is set to arrive only on PC when it rolls out on February 5, the news outlet wrote. It's highly likely that the game will eventually be released in other consoles.

The sequel of the award-winning "XCOM: Enemy Unknown" "transports players 20 years into the future, where humanity lost the war against the alien threat that has established a new world order," IGN reported. XCOM, a secret paramilitary organization, has been forgotten by the world and must retaliate to regain control of the Earth once again and free mankind from the aliens' rule.

"XCOM 2" was initially planned to be released later this year.

"We've set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to 'Enemy Unknown'," Firaxis Games said in August, as quoted in a separate report from IGN. "With 'XCOM 2,' we want to have more depth, more replayability, and more investment in your soldiers and this extension will give us the time we need to deliver on our promise to you."
