'Jupiter Ascending' star Mila Kunis and horror cult genre filmmaker Rob Zombie will be teaming up in a brand new half-hour horror comedy series, 'Trapped'. Kunis will act as executive producer along the 'House of 1000 Corpses' director, who will also be tasked with directing the series.
Starz announce that they have put into development 'Trapped' from Mila Kunis' Orchard Farm Productions. According to Deadline, Joey Slamon of 'Arrested Development' fame created the horror comedy series.
"We're excited to work in partnership with Rob Zombie as well as Mila Kunis and her Orchard Farm Productions associates Susan Curtis, Cami Curtis and Lisa Sterbakov on this horror comedy series," said Carmi Zlotnik who is the Managing Director of Starz. The report further stated that Starz will keep all domestic and international multiplatform rights to the show, which includes television, home entertainment and digital.
The horror comedy series already has some big names attached to its project with Kunis starring in films that span different genres, such as psychological thriller 'Black Swan' and 'Oz'. On the other hand, Zombie has proven himself as multi-talented, having found success as a musician and comic book creator in addition to his impressive resume as director, screenwriter and producer, IGN reports.
The horror series tells of a bloodthirsty cult that will attack a wealthy family's home one night. This results in the family being trapped in their own home -- hence the title. Starz has been yet to show any further details about the show's premise and how many episodes the show might span. Based on the title alone, the show might be on a limited time frame. The show will be set on a single night and seeing how the suspense pans out is appealing enough for fans of the horror genre. While there are some viewers who have stated that the show's premise has been used before, it would be interesting to see how Slamon will deliver. 'Trapped' is the network's way of competing against Ryan Murphy's slasher drama 'Scream Queens' which stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts and Lea Michele
'Trapped' isn't the only horror-comedy show that Starz developed. 'Ash vs. Evil Dead' which is a follow up to the classic hit 'The Evil Dead' will be released on Halloween night. Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will be the show's executive producers and will be premiering on Oct. 31 at 9/8 c.
