A filing at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) may have confirmed the existence of Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

The device, which is said to be the follow-up to the Galaxy S6 Edge, appears to be a larger version of its predecessor with a few tweaks and modifications in its design, Android Authority reported. Check out a photo of the brand's filing at the USPTO on the news outlet's site.

According to Android Authority, it should be noted that "these kinds of filings happen on a regular basis and may not be indicative of anything more than a desire for brand protection." The corporation also filed a trademark protection for the Galaxy S6 Note patent name despite the absence of the handset.

Listed below are the rumored specs and features of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Design & Display

Android Authority wrote that the device's design, which bears close resemblance to the Galaxy S6 Edge, has minor changes on the bottom microphone to the left of the USB port. The handset is said to come in at 5.4 inches, 5.5 inches, or 5.7 inches.

Popular leaker @OnLeaks, whose real name is Steve Hemmerstoffer, posted an alleged design of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus' case bearing a 154.45×75.80×6.85mm dimension, which suggests a 5.5-inch display. Take a look at the photos here and here.

MobileDirect also shared a CAD render of the device's design, which looks almost identical to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Processor, RAM, Battery, & OS

Android Authority claimed that the handset will run using the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop along with a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core CPU. It is also expected to have 32 GB of memory storage and 3,000 mAh battery.

Camera & Other Features

For the camera, the news outlet wrote that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be equipped with a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 5 MP front shooter for taking selfies.

As per Phandroid, the smartphone is expected to be released at the IFA Berlin early in September along with the Galaxy Note 5. An estimated price for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is yet to be had.

Android Authority describes the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus as the product which will mark Samsung's first "mainstream flagship phablet." The tech giant's Note series was a huge hit to those users who value productivity. If the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus comes to fruition, the device will provide users a more accessible smartphone "without the extra bells and whistles (and at times, bulk)" of the Note series, the news outlet explained.
