One of the biggest news surrounding the boxing world as of the moment is the potential return of "The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya to the boxing ring. What makes it even bigger is that he might be going against the undefeated American boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It is worth noting that De La Hoya came close to blemishing Floyd's clean record, but ultimately lost via split decision.

A common foe for both fighters, Manny Pacquiao, weighed in on the news of a possible De La Hoya return. He said that if De La Hoya is feeling good about stepping in to the boxing ring again, he should go for it.

"It depends on him, if there's nothing wrong with him, if he's healthy, he can go," Pacquiao told Philippine newspaper publication INQUIRER.net. "He can still do it if he still has that hunger in him as a boxer."

The Filipino boxer is currently recovering from a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and his promoter Bob Arum said Pacquiao is healing faster than expected.

"Manny says he has been doing well," Arum told ESPN.com. "He said he has been feeling better."

Just a month ago, Oscar De La Hoya said on his Instagram account that he is happily retired and at the same time, he declined Mayweather's challenge.

"So I hear Floyd wants to give me a rematch now. Our first fight had a rematch clause, it had to take place within the year. (And then) He retired a year in one day. Look, I'm retired, I'm happy. I'm content. I'm never coming back."

Later on, he declared that he is still on top shape and he feels encouraged as people around him tells him that he could still go toe-to-toe against the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Gennady Golovkin.

"I feel amazing," De La Hoya told ESPN. "In my life right now, I have so much motivation. I am so hungry and so determined. I am young, I am healthy and I feel great... 42 is the new 32."

De La Hoya added that the support was so overwhelming that it was hard to ignore.

"I just feel great physically. I've been taking care of myself. I've been doing the Bernard Hopkins lifestyle. You can turn the clock back to a certain time," he said.
