The next generation of Apple devices may pack sapphire display, if reports surrounding the Cupertino giant's partnership with Foxconn Technology Group end up true. According to MacRumors, Focus Taiwan cited a report from China Economic Weekly, claiming that Foxconn has been up to produce sapphire screens in a new factory close to a Zhengzhou-based iPhone 6 assembly plant.

Approximately, the new facility is worth $2.6 billion, wrote International Business Times. The outlet said Foxconn is Apple's pick as it appears able to meet the latter's rigorous production deadlines.

If the speculation is to be believed, the anticipated iPhone 6S / iPhone 7 may be the first to come with such feature. However, it must be noted that the report didn't name a specific device. We're not overlooking on the same possibility for future iPads and iPod touch.

Focus Taiwan wrote, "The new factory is expected to manufacture sapphire displays for the next generation of the Apple devices." On a fishy note, MacRumors added that shares of Taiwanese sapphire manufacturers rose after the allegations broke out.

The latest iPhone flagship (6 and 6 Plus) were once expected to feature such screens, said Business Insider. As told by TechnoBuffalo, the idea did not materialize because Apple failed to get them done in due time.

Apple's supposed sapphire-partnership with GT Advanced Technologies has been noted by iDownloadBlog. If the deal hasn't collapsed, the source predicted that the Arizona company would have produced over 50% of the world's output of sapphire. Accordingly, the mineral comes next to diamond in terms of hardness; it is likewise expensive. Its synthetic version is also difficult to manufacture.

Business Insider cited unnamed sources who revealed that the company is "cautiously evaluating" display options to check feasibility and prevent supply shortage. The outlet believed Gorilla Glass 4 is another likely option, since the manufacturer, Corning, branded it as their strongest version of the screen yet.

As we have previously noted, the iPhone 6S is rumored to pack professional, DSLR-quality camera. The idea was spilled by John Gruber via The Talk Show, as quoted by MacRumors, "I don't even know what sense this makes, but I've heard that it's some kind of weird two-lens system where the back camera uses two lenses and it somehow takes it up into DSLR quality imagery."

The distinction of speculated features between iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 remains vague at present, simply because Apple has not confirmed whether or not it drops the "-s" convention and settles for a new iPhone number. Macworld said even further that the new device may be called "iPhone Air."

Nevertheless, we have earlier noted that the iPhone 6S may launch next year. Stabley Times said the iPhone 7 might arrive in 2016.
