It is no ordinary shade of blue. In fact, it could very well be a color of royalty in every sense of the word, especially when no other than NBA superstar Kobe Bryant has chosen it for his new signature shoes.

Nike described the much-awaited Kobe 9 "Gym Blue", the newest addition to Bryant's collection of sports shoes. It will reportedly appeal to individuals who are not only fans of the Black Mamba, but those who also value comfort, design and flexibility:

"The Kobe 9 features University Gold on the Swoosh mark and Flywire cables-they integrate with the laces for an adaptive, supportive fit-and Gym Blue on the one-piece engineered mesh upper, which offers excellent breathability. "

Of course, Gym Blue, which will retail at $160, will not be complete without a "special mark" from the NBA superstar:

"The speckled midsole features a Kobe signature on the injected nylon heel clip," Nike described in its website.

The shoes are also made from Nike Lunarlon midsole, aiming to provide an ultra-soft, responsive ride.

Sneaker News wrote that the conveniently colored Gym Blue shoes and the University Gold midsole match the branding and outsole for one of the finer Nike Kobe 9 EMs, popularly dubbed as the "Cal Bears."

For Sneaker Report, the Kobe 9 EM "just won't go away" because its look is one of the best yet. The Cal Bears shoes feature bright yellow hits on the outsole, Flywire, and tongue area, complimented by an eye-catching shade of blue at the upper portion.

It is no surprise that the latest iteration of Kobe 9 EM, the two-toned Gym Blue still possesses the potential of being a performance basketball sneaker, and an everyday shoe, according to Sneaker Report.

Nike revealed that the Gym Blue will be released on Nov. 21, 8 a.m. EST and 5 a.m. PST at Nike.com. It will be available for $175 at the Nike Store and other select retailers.

The Kobe 9 is Bryant's ninth signature shoe with Nike. Sole Collector noted how Kobe began his signature career with Adidas, signing with them directly out of high school in 1996. He remained with Adidas until the summer of 2002, then went a year without a deal after breaking his contract, before eventually signing with Nike in the summer of 2003, and his collection became one of the most influential lines in Nike's history.
