It's been 35 years since the iconic superhero Wonder Woman was portrayed on the big screen by Lynda Carter. With the upcoming standalone "Wonder Woman" movie years away from being released, there's no doubt that the original Wonder Woman is still one of the first persons to ask about the famous fictional character.

In an interview with Vulture during the God's Love We Deliver 2014 Golden Heart Awards, Carter admitted that the female superhero was "complicated," and that she was "about a lot more than just superhero stuff."

"Ultimately, she's about truth, and it's all heart with her. She's a strong female force," Carter said on the Vulture report.

When asked why she thinks the "Wonder Woman" movie took so long to be made, as opposed to numerous sagas made for other superheroes like Superman and Batman, Carter theorizes, "I think females baffle men, and so, that's made it difficult to get a Wonder Woman movie made. She's strong, but she's so much more - not everybody gets that."

Vulture also adds that Carter wants the female superhero to "have a heart and a strong sense of humor."

Cinema Blend, however, points out that that second part might be close to impossible because Warner Bros. seems to establish its DC universe using toned-down and gritty trends -- much like Christopher Nolan's Batman films which appeared serious and grave.

According to another article from Cinema Blend, director Zack Snyder will feature and re-introduce Wonder Woman in the upcoming 2016 film, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Warner Bros. has also officially confirmed the heroine's own film will come out in 2017 alongside "Justice League: Part 1," according to the Cinema Blend report.

As for news about who will portray Wonder Woman, it has been announced that Israelian actress Gal Gadot landed the part of the Amazonian superhero.

"Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character," Snyder said in the Cinema Blend report.

According to the same article, Gadot has signed a three-picture deal with Warner Bros., which will start on "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," the other two being the individual "Wonder Woman" movie and "Justice League." Aside from Gadot, no other cast members has been confirmed for the movie.
