The South Korean tech giant is reportedly working on display screens unlike any other for the upcoming phablet.

According to GforGames, a new report from ZDNet Korea suggested that Samsung is tinkering with a three-sided Youm display for the Galaxy Note 4. In fact, the outlet reported that the alleged three-sided display is already in its "trial production phase."

However, because of material constraints, the source said that Samsung's partners can only "produce limited plastic substrate quantities." This means that the alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with three-sided Youm display might be limited. ZDNet Korea added that such Limited Edition phone may be a South Korea release only - just like the Samsung Galaxy Round.

So what does a three-sided display have for the Note 4 if ever? The alleged Youm display that Samsung is reportedly toying with will allow for a new way of unlocking the Note 4 - by swiping the right side of the screen, GforGames said.

"Another useful trick would be for the right-edge of the display to act as a place for bookmarks while reading ebooks," added the outlet.

It isn't clear if the rumored three-sided Youm display will dispel the previous rumor of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 having a 5.7-inch screen Quad HD 2560×1440 AMOLED display or if the company is looking to compromise both.

The upcoming phablet is also rumored to come with a powerful processor, with Snapdragon 805, Snapdragon 801 and Samsung's very own Exynos 6 leading the string of likely considered chips.

For the camera, Digital Spy reported that Apple's rival is alleged to have put in place a 16MP ISOCELL-integrated rear shooter and a 3.7MP front camera.

Possible features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 include fingerprint technology integration, water resistance, dust resistance, and an alleged new metal chassis, Digital Spy added.

It was previously reported that Samsung has rolled out invitations for a September 3, 2014 Unpacked media event with the message, "Ready? Note the date!"

Whether or not the company has plans of revealing the next-generation Note on the said event is not yet confirmed but previous Galaxy Note launches were done during IFA and the September 3 date is the first day of this year's installment of the said press conference.

It looks like fans will have to wait just a few more weeks to find out but the thought of a possible three-sided display for the Note 4 is already exciting in itself.

Would you be buying one if the alleged unique phablet release in the US?
