Allen Iverson News: Girl Takes Selfie With Ex-NBA Star Without Knowing Who He Is

Ignorance excuses no one. Really.

Bella Serrano should know this now, as she bore the brunt of attacks after she posted a selfie with a guy on Instagram, which she took because "they told her" he was famous--only to find out later that the dude was basketball star, Allen Iverson.

For The Win said attackers came "like bees," prompting her to lock her profile, per SB Nation. Serrano's not at fault for not knowing "The Answer," For The Win added sarcastically.

To be fair, SB Nation comments, it could be hard to know who you're with on a selfie, especially in the context of a club. And since the Internet is a know-all, why not find out through it?

Dime Magazine said if its team were to spot Allen Iverson in a club, they'd just say they're at a great club, because they've been with him before. But if you take a photo with him, no matter how young you are or how new you are, you should know him, it commented.

Saying it is understandable that she closed her Instagram page, it noted that Iverson is seen by some as a "demigod." It added that he is a "folk hero" for some quarters.

If only she thought to ask some sports fan nearby, she would have spared herself the torment, the Washington Post said.

Iverson played basketball in the NBA for 14 years, qualifying for the all-star games 11 times, it explained. He also holds the seventh all-time in points per game of 26.7, it added.

The Bleacher Report also said Iverson, now 39, was "one of the greatest NBA players of the previous decade," so the online violence comes from something.

Iverson has not played in four years, the Washington Post report did say, so the "fairly young" woman might not know because of that.

Except that the Internet is very unforgiving, Total Pro Sports reported. People from the world over ganged up to tell her she was an "idiot," it said, noting that the reactions were a "bloodbath."

But the reporter is on her side of the fence: "I probably wouldn't recognize a few foreign dignitaries in person. Doesn't mean I don't respect them."

It even posted a screengrab of the lady's two cents about it.

"I'm not sorry at all that I don't know who he was, call it disrespect or whatever you want," she said. Her demeanor hasn't changed when she found out it was Iverson, she also said.

"He was still just a person like me n you, but thanks for all the requests I got out of nowhere," she also said, so in her world you can't say she was at the losing end of the bargain.
