For comic book fans this may be the most hero-packed fall television season ever. A total of six shows features characters from the Marvel and DC comic book franchises will either be returning to network television or making their heavily anticipated debuts.

Agent Carter, a character that is a precursor of sorts to the agency in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.LD will be premiering Tuesdays on ABC. The character, played by Hayley Atwell, appeared in the last two Capt. America movies.

Another hotly anticipated show is The Flash, which is also expected to bow on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW. The show will take viewers into the world of the iconic Scarlet Speedster.

In what's probably the most anticipated super hero related show slated to join the fall television fray is the show connected to the Batman character. "Gotham" is planned for a Monday night launch at 8 p.m. The show, according to Variety.com, is among the most popular with advertisers.

Another character from the DC comics universe will be "John Constantine". Keanu Reeves played the character in film some years back. The character, a purveyor in magic and the dark arts will be a Friday night show on NBC starting this fall.

Probably the most anticipated return for a hero-themed show is Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D which got off to a good start in its premiere season. The show returns to ABC on Tuesday night.

"Green Arrow" has held strong in viewership, which is why it's returning to the CW for its third season on the CW network.

With plenty more super hero films set to hit theaters between now and the fall, there's no doubt that comic book fans will be happy to get their hero fix by turning on their television sets any day of the week.
