While Anderson Silva initially ruled out a possible return this year, the former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight kingpin recently revealed that he will be ready to fight soon.

In an interview with UFC Fight Pass, Silva said that he is doing very well in his recovery from the leg injury he sustained during his rematch with Chris Weidman in December last year, saying that he will be ready to fight again this year.

"I'm feeling well. I would be ready to fight this year. Another couple of months and I would be ready to fight again," Silva said, via Bloody Elbow.

Silva admitted, however, that he is still hesitating to throw kicks using his surgically repaired left leg, fearing that he might suffer another injury, but he pointed out as well that he is slowly regaining his confidence.

"I was a bit worried, but then I thought to myself, 'I have been doing this since I was kid - let's kick!' Let's do what needs to be done," Silva said. "Everything with happiness; Regardless if you are injured or not, you got to have happiness to recover. You must have the will to carry on and never give up."

The 38-year-old Brazilian said that he is looking to complete his UFC contract, but he also admitted that he is still dreaming about a possible showdown with boxing legend Roy Jones Jr.

Silva added, though, that the boxing match is a long-shot at this point, based on his conversation with UFC president Dana White, and co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta.

"I've always wanted to box Roy Jones Jr. It's a dream I want to make a reality but Dana spoke his mind, Lorenzo as well. I understand. This is a business. But it's a dream; a personal desire that I had, but for now it will have to wait," Silva said.

Silva also revealed that he is also busy preparing for his post-UFC career. Reports indicated that he is also focused on his flourishing acting career, while MMA Fighting also reported that Silva is training to become a Los Angeles Police Department officer.
