In this week's episode of "The Following," Ryan is unsure if he can trust Agent Mendez.

And when Max asks him to give up trying with Joe, Ryan admits that he can't because he's obsessed with killing him.

Max is captured by a man Lily hired, and is captured on video being hung by her hands from the ceiling of a basement. When she escapes to the woods, Kurt, the Huntsman, chases after her.

Micah says that he must take blood from a cult member to wash away all of their sins, and Emma is chosen. He slits her wrists and drinks her blood.

And because the episode wasn't gory enough, Mike Weston watches as Mark slits his father's throat.

"Mike, even from the very first episode, has sort of been in transition," said Shawn Ashmore, who portrays Weston, to TV Guide. "It's one big arc... When Weston's dad is killed in front of him is very similar to Ryan losing Claire. It's certainly on that scale. I think it's sort of the final straw that makes these guys even, emotionally, if we were keeping tallies of what's happening to these guys, how much they've lost and how much pain they've gone through. Ryan watched Claire being killed right in front of him, and now Weston sees his dad killed right in front of his eyes."

But this is not going to slow him down. In fact, it will probably motivate him more. The actor said Mike will change, and not for the good.

"He's got to finish this out one way or another. And now I think he's more reckless than ever. He's willing to do what it takes to get these guys... That was the difference between Ryan and Mike in the first season. Ryan was willing to break the rules, and Mike sort of felt like he had to stay within the protocol of the FBI. Now that's basically out the window," said Ashmore.
