Amir Khan made it no secret that he was very upset with Floyd Mayweather Jr. after the reigning pound-for-pound king opted to face Marcos Maidana, but the Briton is still hoping that his dream fight will happen in the near future.

BoxingScene reported on Monday that Khan is currently in talks with influential advisor Al Haymon about a possible working relationship.

Sources said that Khan wants to be included in Haymon's stable of fighters in hopes of finally landing a bout against Mayweather, who is also under the powerful boxing advisor.

Khan has been chasing Mayweather since the 37-year-old champion mentioned him as one of his possible opponents.

The Bolton native was actually considered as the front-runner in the race to land a Mayweather fight, but the undefeated champion chose Maidana for his next fight on May 3.

Reports indicated that Khan is convinced that Haymon will be the key in landing him big fights that will eventually lead to a big-money showdown with Mayweather, probably in September or in 2015.

"In order to get Mayweather, Khan has been very vocal about making a big splash at 147-pounds," BoxingScene noted. "If a top name at welterweight is what Khan wants, then Haymon has what he's looking for."

Aside from Mayweather, Haymon also handles the careers of top welterweight boxers like Maidana, Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia, Devon Alexander, Shawn Porter, Andre Berto, Victor Ortiz, Paulie Malignaggi, and top welterweight contender Luis Collazo, one of his newest clients.

Broner looks like a good opponent for Khan and reports indicate that they could end up facing each other on May 3 as a co-main event with the Mayweather-Maidana showdown.

Khan, who previously turned down a proposed title fight against Devon Alexander in December, expressed interest in facing Broner.

"I want to fight a top name in the welterweight division to cement my name at 147," Khan recently said in an interview, BoxingScene reported. "My return will probably be at the end of April or in May. There are a few names put to me, someone like Broner would be a great fight for me."

The 27-year-old Briton recently called out Mayweather, telling Mayweather that he should fight him once he defeats Broner, who is considered by Floyd Jr. as his little brother.
