The first two games coming to Xbox One owners through the ID@Xbox program have been revealed: an unnamed Worms title and Nutjitsu will be coming to ID@Xbox, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer confirmed through his Twitter account. Both games are expected to be released on to the Xbox One by March.

The unnamed Worms project is most likely being developed by Team 17, the traditional development team for the franchise. However, not much is known about the title, so this may change as the details concerning the downloadable game are revealed. The Worms franchise gives players a team of worms to control as they duke it out with A.I. or human-controlled teams using a variety of weapons.

Nutjitsu, on the other hand, has already been released on Windows Phones by developer Ninjabee. The game is similar to Pac-Man, with players controlling a squirrel through a maze as it collects nuts and avoids foxes.

The ID@Xbox program was started by Microsoft to entice indie developers to create games for the new console, similar to Sony's push to put indie games on the PlayStation 4. Developers are able to sign up for the ID@Xbox program, and Microsoft will give away two developer kits for the Xbox One for free. This allows smaller developers without the massive resources that big name companies like EA and Ubisoft have to create and release games on the Xbox One. Microsoft is hoping this program will help the company find the next big indie game such as Minecraft to draw consumers to the Xbox One console. The first batch of games created through this program (including Nutjitsu and the Worms game) is expected in March, but no release dates have been revealed.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft is able to steal away some of Sony's thunder when it comes to indie games. Sony offered Don't Starve, the critically-acclaimed indie title previously available only on the PC for free as part of PlayStation Plus in January. This survival game was downloaded by thousands, and fans of indie games were excited to see that Sony was putting Don't Starve at the forefront of their PlayStation Plus program as opposed to big budget games.
