"Watch Dogs" is indeed coming to the Wii U, despite the rumors that have circulated that Ubisoft had quietly cancelled the title after this particular version of the game began to disappear from pre-order pages.

Rumors about "Watch Dogs" on the Wii U being cancelled first began when Wiitalia, a Italian Nintendo website, reported that a Gamestop employee claimed that Ubisoft had cancelled the game on the Wii U and was calling customers to let them know that their pre-orders would be withdrawn. The rumors really began to pick up steam when Kotaku reported that the game was cancelled in the United States, leading many to seek out Ubisoft and demand to know what was going on.

Despite this rash of cancelled pre-orders, it turns out the Ubisoft is still releasing "Watch Dogs" on the Wii U. A computer error reportedly caused the game to disappear from pre-order sites for the United States and Italy. The error should be fixed and Wii U owners can rest assured that "Watch Dogs" is on track to appear on the console.

While the game may not be cancelled on the Wii U, when exactly "Watch Dogs" will be released is still a mystery. The game was originally scheduled to be launched in November to coincide with the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but quality concerns forced Ubisoft to delay the game into 2014. However, the company has yet to set a new release date for the game, meaning fans who have pre-ordered the game have been left hanging for months as Ubisoft tries to get the game ready for launch.

"Watch Dogs" allows players to explore a futuristic Chicago with the ability to hack into many of the city's systems. Players can do everything from changing traffic lights to cause accidents, to listening in on phone calls to find out information about their targets. By allowing players to hack into the fundamental components of the city, Ubisoft is allowing users to play in any way they want. They can choose to turn the city against an enemy, or simply use standard run and gun mechanics to silence their foes.
