The superhero movie "Deadpool" has smashed box-office records despite the restricted rating (Rated R) given to the film.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the American film still managed to break records in the movie scene using its originality and wit.

The movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, reportedly made $135 million in North America over the weekend and is aiming to earn $150 for its fourth day in the cinemas.

In other parts of the globe, the same report mentioned that the movie also recorded $125 million earnings.

The Verge noted that the film now holds the title for the top-grossing R-rated film which was formerly held by "The Matrix Reloaded" in 2003. The movie earned $91.7 million during its opening weekend.

Other R-rated films which made a lot of money despite restrictions on the age of viewers were "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "American Sniper," both released in 2015 as well as "The Hangover Part II."

In a similar report, Cinema Blend mentioned that Deadpool was given an R rating by the Motion Picture Association of America because of its "strong violence and language throughout, sexual content and graphic nudity."

It claimed that the intended audience for the movie was cut since it was an adaptation of a comic book character for kids.

But even Reynolds admitted that the movie could not be given a PG-13 rating because it would mean cutting the film into a shorter one.

"I don't think so. I mean, you saw it. That would be a very short movie. It's almost a commercial at that point," he told Comic Book.

But despite this rating, it was clear that a lot of fans and moviegoers still showed their support to the movie.

A review of Screen Rant said the film entertains the audience with very funny scenes and clever comic tactics to amuse and draw people into watching every shot of the movie.

It added that not a single second of the 108-minute film will be wasted.

It claimed that the movie is way better than Reynolds' other superhero movie "Green Lantern" and also beats "Kick-Ass."

The same report mentioned that "Deadpool's" box office record is just starting and people should expect that its R-rating will further boost ticket sales.
