Hideo Kojima has just recently left his position as the vice president of Konami Digital Entertainment, and has joined Sony Corporation to work for PlayStation 4. The game designer is now building his own development studio, Kojima Productions, to exclusively create a new game for the said gaming brand.

Rumors of the 52-year-old developer leaving the Japanese game publisher have been swirling around for a while. Finally, after nine months, Kojimia finally decided to part ways with Konami, according to Fortune.

Sony took advantage of the situation and promptly hired the most respected game creator in the industry. They then announced the collaboration with the originally established subsidiary of Konami production to produce its first game for PlayStation 4.

"He is one of the most creative talents in the history of games," Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment said in YouTube clip, which confirmed their partnership. "Kojima-san, on behalf of PlayStation and together with the fans, we'd like to offer our full support on your new journey."

To recall, the director of Kojima Productions was also the maker of the biggest Konami game series, "Metal Gear Solid" and "Silent Hill." In fact, the MGS franchise has sold more than 46 million copies worldwide and its new installment, "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" sold 5 million copies alone this September.

Meanwhile, IGN had an interview with Kojima in his first public appearance since he left his previous company. He revealed that his former pals, who he had worked with on "MGS," artists Yoji Shinkawa and producer Kenichiro Imaizumi, will also join him to work for PlayStation 4.

The two men will have senior roles and will supervise the art design and production of the new game title. However, the screenwriter skipped questions about the future of his creation, "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" and questions surrounding any of the "Metal Gear" series.

But, he was very enthusiastic to answer questions about game industry of today, as well as the fate of his own production, and the mystique PlayStation game collaboration along with his comrade, Shinkawa. Evidently, Kojima doesn't want to give any further details about the upcoming work of Kojima Production and PlayStation.

Fortunately, as eager as they are, IGN pushed to know the philosophy and goals of the planned project. "I want to create something that's what people expect, but at the same time will have something new that people haven't seen before," Kojima told the publication, teasing everyone by saying that "it will be a complete game."
