After all the controversies and failed negotiations between both camps, the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. rumble will finally happen.

Eight-division world champion Pacquiao and current pound-for-pound king Mayweather have reportedly set their fight date for September 2014, a source close to situation reported last week.

According to Youtube Channel 78Sports TV, a reliable source reported that the long-due boxing showdown between the two biggest names in the sport is a done deal and will take place in September of 2014.

The source, who previously leaked the information about Mayweather's upcoming showdown with Robert Guerrero and Saul Canelo Alvarez months before those fights were announced, said the Pacman and Money May have already set everything up for their highly-anticipated slugfest.

Money May vs. the Pacman

Mayweather has been on assault for these past few days on Twitter, posting memes and photo shopped pictures to mock his rivals in the welterweight division. Great Britain's Amir Khan and Argentine brawler Marcos Maidana were victims of Mayweather's jokes, but nobody received more mockery from the Grand Rapids native than Pacquiao.

Coming off a 12-round unanimous decision win over Brandon Rios last November, Pacquiao has suddenly put his name again in the Mayweather sweepstakes despite absorbing the most brutal loss of his career at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez over a year ago.

However, Pacquiao's latest performance in the ring proved that he can still perform at a high level and thus reignited the clamor for a showdown with Mayweather in a match that will define an era in boxing.

Details of the Showdown of the Century

The source has not provided concrete details about the megabuck showdown except the month when it will happen.

Nevertheless, boxing fans are intrigued about how things would progress moving forward, considering the on-going dispute between Mayweather Promotions and Pacman's handler Top-Rank Promotions along with the current war between cable giants HBO Boxing and Showtime.

Two weeks ago, Mayweather stressed that a fight with Pacquiao is unlikely right now because Pacquiao is currently signed with Bob Arum's Top-Rank. However, there are reports that Pacman is considering representing himself as a free-agent in his fight with Mayweather in an attempt to get the job done.

Mayweather, who racked up more than $100 million in 2013, was originally expected to announce his next foe in the second week of December. Surprisingly, Money May has yet to reveal the identity of his next foe. Pacquiao may not be named Mayweather's opponent for his May 3 event right away, but all eyes will be on his September fight date for sure.
