The tumultuous past of Mexican pop/rock singer Gloria Trevi is no secret from the public. Her biopic titled "Gloria," which is out on DVD this week, highlighted the entertainer's early life and challenging past.

"It was very hard, and I couldn't [see the film] completely," she told Fox News Latino, recounting the first time she ever watched the 2014 film about her. "In the first scene I started to cry; then I laughed sometimes. Sometimes I [would] get angry. And finally, I couldn't finish because [it reminded me of] a lot of things."

The 47-year-old songstress started her career in music at just 12 years of age, the news outlet noted. In that early age, she met her manager and then lover Sergio Andrade.

Trevi's relationship with Andrade was turbulent and abusive. While dating Trevi, he reportedly slept with underage girls, and it was her "alleged blind eye to this that would ultimately land her in prison for four years and eight months," Fox News Latino wrote. She was released in 2004 because of inadequate evidence, while Andrade never admitted to his alleged crimes.

"Gloria," which starred Sofia Espinosa, is directed by Christian Keller from a screenplay penned by Sabina Berman, according to Billboard. In her interview with the news outlet at SXSW earlier this year, Trevi insisted that the biopic has a "positive message" and narrated the "emergence of a brilliant, provocative star and incisive songwriter who electrified audiences of all sizes."

Despite her past, Trevi said that she is bent on learning from her mistakes and being at peace with life.

"I love my past, because it makes me the woman that I am," she said, as quoted by the news outlet. "It gives me a lot of experience ... I learned to [not] pass judgment about other people."

Trevi, who has lived in McAllen, Texas since 2009, will sing "Pelo Suelto," "Zapatos Viejos," and other classics at the L Festival on Oct. 24 and 25 in Costa Mesa, California, Fox News Latino further reported. She will be performing alongside Juan Gabriel and other Latino artists.

On August 21, Trevi kicked off the U.S. leg of her El Amor world tour in Los Angeles and released her latest album. Talking about her new music, the singer said the tracks in the record have "transformed" her life and taught her about love and how she wants to be loved, a separate Billboard report noted.

Trevi worked alongside Chilean producer Humberto Gatica for the album, Billboard added.
