ABC's "Melissa & Joey" is slated to return with an all-new episode on January 15, 2014 and viewers will also be in for quite a treat!

The show will pick up where the summer cliff-hanger left off. According to TVequals.com, Joe rushes home to tell Mel that he has feelings for her after the two spent a romantic night together in New Jersey. When he arrives, he's shocked to find Austin, played by guest star Trevor Donovan, petitioning Mel for a second chance. Feeling discouraged, Joe quits, deciding he can't stay and watch them fall in love all over again.

In the meantime, Lennox comes up with a plan to get Joe and Mel together while Ryder gets sick from his own cooking.

It was also announced that actress Mo Gaffney will appear in the ABC Family comedy series next year. Gaffney, who is known for her role in "Absolutely Fabulous," will play Vice Principal Lucinda Dowell of the high school where Mel and Joe are chaperoning a school dance. After she gets wise to the student's tricks, she tries to prevent the kids from engaging in any naughty behavior. She will appear in twenty-sixth episode of the third season of the show on March 26, 2014, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Melissa & Joey returns for the rest of season three on Jan. 15 followed by "Baby Daddy." Watch a preview below.
