Last Sunday, Viola Davis became the first woman in history to win Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series at the Emmy Awards. To thank all of those who supported her, she gave an empowering speech about the lack of opportunities for women of color.

In her speech that earned her a standing ovation from the crowd at the Microsoft Theater, the "How To Get Away With Murder". "The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is simply opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there. So here's to all the writers, the awesome people - people who have redefined what it means to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be a leading woman, to be black," the actress said.

US Magazine noted that following her speech, a slew of celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Shonda Rhimes" took to social media to congratulate and support her in her achievement.

But there are others who weren't moved, and not everyone was happy about that speech. For instance, "General Hospital" actress Nancy Lee Grahn took to Twitter to voice out her own opinion, saying, "I wish I loved #ViolaDavis Speech, but I thought she should have let @shondarhimes write it. #Emmys"

The went on for a few more tweets that have already been deleted, although Variety cited her to have said, "Im a f-ing actress for 40 yrs. None of us get respect or opportunity we deserve. Emmys not venue 4 racial opportunity. ALL women belittled."

She went on to criticize Davis for quoting Harriet Tubman as well, tweeting, "Harriet Tubman not equivalent to great roles Viola Davis hired 2play. She's made millions. It is unfair comparison."

However, after a backlash from fans, Grahn decided to apologize to fans for her words. In a couple of tweets as cited by Time Magazine, "I apologize for my earlier tweets and now realize I need to check my own privilege. My intention was not to take this historic and important moment from Viola Davis or other women of color but I realize that my intention doesn't matter here because that is what I ended up doing," she said. "I learned a lot tonight and I admit that there are still some things I don't understand but I am trying to and will let this be a learning experience for me," she also added.

What do you think of Viola Davis's speech at the Emmys? Are you with her or do you agree with Grahns sentiments about the issue?
