Rosario Dawson is joining Katherine Heigl in female-centric thriller "Unforgettable," veteran producer Denise Di Novi's directorial debut.

Warner Bros' "Unforgettable" was penned by Christina Hodson and David Leslie Johnson. The upcoming film revolves around a woman "struggling to start a new life with a new husband and his daughter but finds herself tormented by the man's manipulative and mentally unstable ex-wife," who is played by Heigl, The Hollywood Reporter wrote.

Dawson, 36, is set to portray the new wife fighting to save her family, the news outlet noted. The actress' last major movie role was in 2014's "Top Five" opposite Chris Rock. She also stars as one of the regulars of Netflix's "Daredevil." Dawson is reprising her Claire Temple role in the show's second season, which is now in production.

Shooting for "Unforgettable" will kick off on August 17 in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter added. Di Novi also serves as the flick's producer alongside Alison Greenspan.

Di Novi produced plenty of films for Warner Bros. in the past, including Tim Burton's "Batman Returns" in 1992, "Nights in Rodanthe," "Crazy Stupid Love," "If I Stay," and two "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" installments, Variety listed. The producer also worked with Heigl in 2010's Greg Berlanti-directed movie "Life as We Know It."

"Belle" director Amma Asante was previously tapped to direct "Unforgettable" before she abandoned the project earlier this year, Variety wrote.

Rosario Dawson in Marvel's Jessica Jones

Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg revealed in July that Dawson will make an appearance in Marvel and Neflix's upcoming series "Jessica Jones," Entertainment Tonight reported.

The "Daredevil" crossover is one of Dawson's deals with Marvel, which requires her to appear in any of the four "Defenders" series including "Iron Fist," "Jessica Jones," and "Luke Cage," Pocket-Lint listed.

Dawson's "Daredevil" role was originally the actual Night Nurse from the comics whose alter ego is Linda Carter, IGN reported from the show's executive producer Steven DeKnight. In the comics, Dawson's Temple is an obscure character from Luke Cage's past.

As quoted by ScreenCrush, the official synopsis for "Jessica Jones" reads: "After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City."

"Jessica Jones," which premieres later this year, showcases Krysten Ritter in the title role. Also starring are David Tennant as the villain Zebediah Kilgrave, Mike Colter as fellow Defender Luke Cage, Carrie-Anne Moss as "Harper," and Rachael Taylor as Patsy "Hellcat" Walker, ScreenCrush listed. Recurring roles will be filled by Erin Moriarty, Eka Darville, and Wil Traval.
