Reports are claiming that the Apple Watch 2 will be loaded with new features and improvements.

A report from 9to5Mac claimed that the tech giant's second generation wearable device will showcase similar features as its predecessor, but with enhanced performance. Listed below are the latest speculations about the Apple Watch 2. Note that these are all unconfirmed by Apple at the moment.

Capability Without the iPhone

Apple is reportedly aiming to give the new Apple Watch a "tether-less" feature, which means that the device is capable of independency even without the iPhone.

At the moment, 9to5Mac noted that the current Apple Watch's activity tracking, mobile payment, and music playback features function despite the absence of an iPhone. However, text and e-mail messaging as well as updated weather data do not work normally unless connected to a Wi-Fi network.

To resolve this problem, Apple is said to be planning to use a new wireless chipset into the wearable gadget. This way, basic communication tasks could be performed without the smartphone, though 9to5Mac noted that assistance from iPhone is still required for heavier data transfers.

Find my Watch

The Wi-Fi chipset also boasts of the Find my Watch feature, which could find other Apple Watches using Wi-Fi router triangulation technology as a replacement for GPS.

CNBC wrote that Find my Watch will allow users to track their wearables and delete all of its data if it gets stolen or lost.

Improved FaceTime Experience

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is also planning to put a video camera into the top bezel of the Apple Watch 2. This would give users the ability to make and receive FaceTime calls while on the move.

The new software also "allows users to answer FaceTime Audio calls from the Apple Watch, as well as route FaceTime video calls to either be answered on an iPhone or rejected," the news outlet added.

Battery Life

The Apple Watch 2's battery life is said to be slightly improved than its predecessor with more advanced features. A Nightstand charging mode of the Apple Watch means that the nightly charging requirement of the device will not be necessary anymore.

New Models

9to5Mac also claimed that Apple is planning to make additional variations for the Apple Watch aside from its already existing Sport, Steel, and Edition models. According to the news outlet, "the company is said to be focusing on introducing new models that will sit between the highest-end stainless steel Apple Watch and the entry-level 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition."

It's probable that the second generation of the Apple Watch would launch in titanium, tungsten, palladium, and platinum variations.

Price & Release Date

As for how much it would sell, 9to5Mac wrote that Apple is "looking at ways to attract customers at price points between $1,000 and $10,000." The tech giant will likely release the Apple Watch in 2016. Until then, customers would have to settle themselves with Apple's WatchOS 2.0 update, which will release this fall.
