With a release date set for next year, David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is already shooting in Toronto, with a flood of fan photos making their way on different social media platforms.

However, IGN noted that despite the many images taken on set, there is little that fans do know about the movie, other than the fact that it is the third DC Cinematic Universe release after "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

There is also little to question about the talent involved, with stars like Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie leading the group of supervillains as Deadshot, Joker, and Harley Quinn, respectively. Victoria's Secret Angel -turned-actress Cara Delevigne will also be making an appearance as the Enchantress.

However, there is another name attached to the cast list that the fans could not put together with a character. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Common is revealed to be part of the supervillain flick, however, it seems that nobody other than the production team can figure out who he's going to be.

The Black Manta is among the top character guesses for Common, however leaked photos posted by TMZ showed his on-set appearance to be more in line with other DC characters like the Tattooed Man and Doctor Mist.

THR noted that Tattooed Man is more of a Green Lantern villain, who, in recent years have been more of an antihero than villain, and with Common's tattooed persona on set, it seems like the Tattooed Man is the most obvious villain he could play.

However, Doctor Mist may be a more intriguing possibility, considering that he's actually a superhero who, incidentally, also has facial tattoos in his latest comic book incarnation. Common's possible hero character can also mean that the Suicide Squad will actually work against someone in the movie. As superhero films have supervillains, it should make sense that supervillain flicks will have superheroes in them, right?

Finally, there's also the possibility that the singer could play martial arts mercenary the Bronze Tiger, and even though he's not inked in the comics, there's really not much fans and critics can say about Ayer's adaptation. Screen Rant already noted that Leto's Joker, Robbie's Harley Quinn, and Jay Hernandez's El Diablo are already shown to be covered in ink for the film, even though their skin were tattoo-less in the comics.

Which character do you think Common will be playing in next year's "Suicide Squad"?
