Tennis superstar Roger Federer was certainly not happy with the fan who approached him on the court last Sunday and asked for a selfie after winning the first round at the French Open.

According to ESPN, a young male fan made his way into the center court of the Court Philippe Chatrier to take a selfie with Federer. After the photo-op, it did not seem that Federer was upset but he later on expressed his concern on what happened.

"I'm not happy about it, obviously not one second I'm happy about it. It happened [Saturday] in the practice, too. And today on center court, where you would think this is a place where nobody can come on, just wanders on and nothing happens," Federer said.

He added that there is a change which needs to "happen quickly."

"But obviously [I] want this to happen immediately. Normally I only speak on behalf of myself, but in this situation I think I can speak on behalf of all the players, that that's where you do your job, that's where you want to feel safe. But nothing happened, so I'm relieved. But clearly it wasn't a nice situation to be in," the tennis player added.

ESPN noted that the fan was "detained in the company of his father" and was asked not to see the tournament for the rest of the night.

According to CNN, the incident sparked concerns on the security in the city which was disturbed a few months ago when terrorists claimed the life of 11 individuals inside the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

The incident was said to be similar to the 1993 instance when former women's No. 1 Monica Sales was stabbed during a tournament in Germany, forcing her to stop playing for two years.

CNN also mentioned that tournament director Gilbert Ysern already apologised to Federer, but the latter is still concerned on whether or not proper action will be taken to secure the players.

"First, it should never happen. I'm not just speaking about Roland Garros, but now that we are playing Roland Garros, there are so many players, so many fans, so much focus by the media on Roland Garros, that people should react much more quickly," Federer said.

"It's not just being there, standing there on the courts wearing a nice tie and suit. It's not that funny and I hope there is going to be a reaction from the tournament. They apologized, and I must say that I appreciated this, but I'd like to see what's going to happen next," he added.

For Ysern's part, he said that the tennis player's comments "made sense."

"He was pissed off with what happened in court. He has good grounds for being unhappy. I think, well, some extent it's not the end of the world. It simply shows that we collectively as an organization made a mistake and we will have to correct that, of course, and make sure it doesn't happen again," Ysern explained.

Federer was also visited by a fan during the 2009 French Open final.
