The sixth generation iPod Touch is still in Apple's future, but a report from Christian Times has revealed that "it's not going to be a top priority" of the multinational corporation.

The Apple Watch, which CEO Tim Cook has described as boasting "the same ingredient that made the iPod a game changer in the music world," is currently the main focus of the Cupertino based company, Christian Times wrote. The iPod Touch 6G, however, is not forgotten and could be released by September this year.

A contradicting report from Venture Capital Post, has revealed that the iPod Touch 6G might not be unveiled this year because of all the Apple flagships currently under the limelight, such as the Apple MacBook Air with Retina Display and the iPad Pro.

According to Christian Times, the music device was supposed to be unveiled last year following the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Ultimately, the huge demand for the handsets has prompted the iPod Touch 6G to be pushed back.

The news outlet noted that the purported iPod Touch 6G will come in two models, a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch, and will be available in the pink, yellow, red, silver, blue, and space grey. Its A8 processor chip feature takes inspiration from Apple's iPhone. A 4-inch Retina display could also be present in the new iPod Touch for an improved resolution, Master Herald reported.

A separate report from Master Herald also stated that the iPod Touch 6G could come with a water-resistant feature just like in the other modern gadgets. This could be a plus for the rumored device because "it would be nearly improbable" to identify other music gadgets with the same feature.

The news outlet wrote that the sixth generation of the iPod Touch could be equipped with Apple's mobile payment system, the Apple Pay. It could also feature the digital assistant app Siri and the iOS 9. According to Master Herald, Apple's upcoming operating system "is now on its final beta-testings and it is likely that it will be rolling out any time before September, giving the iPod Touch 6th Generation the perfect prelude."

Price and Other Features

The iPod Touch 6G's memory can also be upgraded for as high as 128 GB through a microSD card, Master Herald claimed. Rumors added that the device will have a longer battery life, improved security features that include Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and will be equipped with a waterproof 8-megapixel iSight camera.

The news outlet wrote that the alleged iPod Touch could be priced from $250 to $300, depending on the variant.

It should be noted that these are all rumors for now and an official announcement from Apple is yet to come out.
