It's about time for "Tron 3" plans to take shape, and the Hollywood Reporter has just confirmed that Walt Disney Pictures has attached Joseph Kosinski to helm the film. Screen Rant noted however, that this is not much of a surprise considering that the director wanted to push through with the last film, "Tron: Legacy."

It has also been noted that fans were not really clamoring for a follow-up film, but it seems that Disney is set to add another film to the franchise. Not that it's a bad thing entirely. Visually speaking, "Legacy" was pretty good, if not for the flat characters and muddled plot.

Although it hasn't been officially greenlighted yet, Disney is apparently eyeing a 2015 start of production, and it seems that they're taking slow but sure measures by hiring Kosinski, as his previous projects included other sci-fi movies like "Oblivion" and "Tron: Legacy."

"Tron: Legacy" was shot in Vancouver, but it is not sure whether or not the same goes for the third installment, as Vancouver will already be hosting "Star Trek 3", "Suicide Squad," and "Pacific Rim 2" this year.

During initial discussions about "Tron 3," Kosinski revealed that the tone will be darker, comparing it to Star Wars' "Empire Strikes Back." He also noted that it will pick up where "Legacy" has left off, which could mean more development of the ISOs and the Quorra.

JoBlo revealed via Fashion & Style, "The new film will likely pick up where the last film left off, with Sam and Quorra in the real world. The cameo by Cillian Murphy as Edward Dillinger, Jr, son of the character played by David Warner in the original, has been teased by Joseph Kosinski as being a potential plot point in 'TRON 3.'"

It's not quite sure how "Tron 3" will relate to sales. Considering that nobody even really cared for "Legacy," which was released nearly 5 years ago in 2010.

With plans pushing through, a late 2016 or 2017 release date is possible for the latest in the franchise. So far, the only cast member confirmed to reprise his role is Garrett Hedlund, with a possibility for Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges to make appearances as well.

Details are scarce, as there have been no confirmed casting, plot, release date, or even a subtitle for now. However, more details will surface as production plans take place,

Do you think it's worth it to have Disney make another "Tron" film?
