Instead of choosing the University of Southern California  (USC), Snoop Dogg's son Cordell Broadus decided to be part of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The four-star wide receiver from Las Vegas announced his decision on Wednesday to the public. "I just felt like that was the best place for me. I have a great connection with the coaches and I want to play in front of my family out on the field and get a great degree," Broadus was quoted by Yahoo Sports as saying.

After his son's announcement, Snoop was seen appearing next to Broadus in the podium, sporting a UCLA jersey. "we Bruins now," the rapper said.

"UCLA just presented the best platform for him that we thought as a family that was going to look out for him when his career was over with. And that's what's important, to make sure he gets a degree and gets an education. Football is not going to be there forever, but life is, so you've got to make sure that you prepare for life," Snoop explained.

ESPN said that Snoop Dogg could not be anymore prouder of his son who was also the subject of a five-part documentary series on ESPN titled "Snoop & Son: A Dad's Dream."

"It's been awesome just watching him step into manhood and make a decision that he's comfortable with," Snoop Dogg said.

"I'm going to back him up 1,000 percent so I'm going to throw my USC drawers away," Snoop said. "I'm going UCLA 100,000 percent," he added.

Aside from USC and UCLA, Broadus reportedly got offers from Arizona State, Baylor and LSU after graduating from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.

Initially, Broadus seemed to be leaning on choosing Arizona State, ESPN revealed, but he eventually went with his gut on this decision. The rapper's 6-foot-2 son is expected to contribute a lot to the UCLA team as he recorded 39 passes for 602 yards and 11 touchdowns during his senior year as Bishop Gorman remained undefeated as the Nevada Division I state championship.

An assessment quoted by Yahoo Sports explained that the newest addition to UCLA is a "real special wide receiver."

"He's a good route runner, he has good speed and athleticism and if you throw the ball up, he's got very long arms and good hands. But he doesn't deliver all the time. That's the thing he needs to work on is his consistency," the Yahoo Sports report quoted analyst Adam Gorney.

But for his part, Broadus said that he is excited to join the team and that he will do his part in the games. "I think it'll be great playing with some great athletes and just going out there and playing hard, working hard and winning games," Broadus said, as quoted by ESPN.

With him going to UCLA, Broadus will be joining P. Diddy's son Justin Combs who also committed himself to the university three years ago.
