Prehistoric animals, drifting continents and friends to spend adventures with -- just how good can the next "Ice Age" be?

Though set in a freezing world, the story of "Ice Age" has warmed the hearts of many since its release in 2002. At this point, fans of Manny and company have their eyes set on the franchise's last installment, "Ice Age 5."

The movie is set to hit the big screens on July 15, 2016. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film intends to build upon the success of earlier productions, which have grossed a total of $2.8 billion worldwide. The last among them, 2012's "Ice Age: Continental Drift," garnered a whopping $874.9 million in a global scale.

The outlet also indicated that the return of Ray Romano, Manny's voice actor, is expected for the fifth installment. At the time of reporting, details surrounding the film's cast have been scarce.

Aside from Romano, The Wrap listed other voice actors of "Ice Age: Continental Drift," which included Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Aziz Ansari, Joy Behar, Peter Dinklage, Nick Frost, Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Seann William Scott, Patrick Stewart, Wanda Sykes, Alan Tudyk, Rebel Wilson and "Ice Age" co-director Chris Wedge.

Jennifer Lopez, Drake and Nicki Minaj had also been part of the 2012 cast.

Considering that "Ice Age 5" continues the plot of 2012's storyline, are we bound to see the same set of vocal talents?

Apparently, yes. As pointed in Crossmap's recent report, it has been confirmed that cast from the "previous franchise" will reprise their roles, so Manny's entire crew will most definitely see us all again.

As usual, prehistoric animals are expected to populate the film. But the outlet also revealed interesting details surrounding the plot of "Ice Age 5." The story will reportedly begin in an island where Manny's crew finished with "Continental Drift."

Adventure begins when main characters Manny (Romano), Scrat (Wedge), Sid (Leguizamo) and Diego (Leary) hear of a certain crack, eventually realizing who has really caused the drift.

As told by Hallels, "Ice Age" is the world's 11th highest-grossing franchise. At present, we know that Disney's "Frozen" holds the record of highest gross for an animated film.
