Despite being involved in a cheating scandal, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is now engaged to his longtime girlfriend, actress Heide Mueller.

On her Instagram page, Mueller happily displayed her engagement ring while posing beside her fiance. Metro said the actress is well known for her role as Kay Bennett Crane in the soap opera "Passions." The couple already have a daughter named Savanna Jane Murray.

But it was not smooth sailing for the two as Sports World News reported that Murray got embroiled in a cheating scandal which involved former Oklahoma teammate and close friend Brennan Clay and his wife Gina D'Agostini. It has been reported that Clay looked up to Murray and considered the latter as his mentor.

But this good relationship was marred after Thanksgiving when Clay revealed on Twitter that his wife was cheating on him with Murray

"He filed for divorce, and he released some text messages that his wife had allegedly exchanged with Murray, who was saved in her phone as 'Spray Tan' to try and cover her tracks," Sports World News added in its report.

Details of the supposed affair were not clear, however. Deadspin reported that Clay eventually got back together with his wife and he somehow confirmed it by posting another controversial tweet.

"Jumped to a conclusion that wasn't true ..can't judge a situation without knowing all the facts ..I apologize ..," the tweet read.

But while things were getting better for the Clays, Mueller removed Murray from her social media pages and posted cryptic messages about faithfulness on her Instagram page, thus fueling infidelity rumors according to Sports World News.

But now it seems like the two have finally worked out their differences and decided to marry each other despite the issues which surrounded them before. 

TMZ said this is just one of the "big moves" for the NFL star who will soon become an unrestricted agent in a few weeks and may decide to opt out of the Cowboys if the team does not give him a good offer. This is another big decision that Murray must face as it would determine his career in the coming years. 

Soon, wedding bells will be anticipated for the couple as they move towards another chapter in their life as husband and wife.

People close to the newly engaged couple have already sent their well wishes and who knows, maybe Clay will soon reach out to his former friend.
