Many people are crazy about Apple products, and in spite of iPods practically out of the market, it turned out that for those who really are enthusiasts, they can still get their own classic iPods as the gadgets sell on Amazon.

PC Mag announced that the vintage iPods, which people have been apparently clamoring for, are on sale in Amazon upwards of $499.

First launched in October 2001, it sold at $399 with 5-16GB worth of storage, which can hold up to 40,000 songs, 25,000 photos, and up to 200 hours of video playback. It also promised up to 36 hours of music playback and six hours of video when fully charged.

The classic iPod is definitely smaller with its 2.5-inch LCD display and with only a 320 by 240 pixel resolution, it can, by no means, match up to the more recent models, however, the website noted that the interest in the classic gadget is more about the nostalgia anyway.

According to Billboard, the classic gadget, new and used are making waves on Ebay and Amazon and auctions are ongoing with people bidding them for over $400 when the original price only went for about $200-$400.

The website noted that since Apple discontinued the product on their shelves, over 5,000 16GB versions have been sold online for absurd prices as they have been labeled as "vintage" and "rare." A player even went for a whopping $899.99 around the end of November.

Apple CEO Tim Cook decided to forgo the production of the classic iPods this year, with consumers opting for music-playing smart phones and subscribing to streaming services like Spotify and Pandora as the main source of music.

Cook also gave a simple reason for the decision to discontinue production. He said during a conference last October, as noted by Engadget.com, "We couldn't get the parts any more. We would have to make a whole new product... the engineering work to do that would be massive."

Also, he noted that "The number of people who wanted it is very small," which means that putting up money for it would not have been worth it.

For those who still want a separate music player from their phones and tablets, however, Apple is still selling the iPod Touch, Nano, and Shuffle.

With all the other gadgets out there, do you think you'd pay for so much for a classic iPod for the nostalgia, or would you rather get the latest versions of the gadget instead?
