The beginning of the new season of the NHL will surely be marked with expected though significant movements among the team which could potentially include Eric Staal's transfer from the Carolina Hurricanes to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Hurricane captain, according to Bleacher Report, has expressed willingness that he will waive his no-trade clause if given the chance to play with the Maple Leafs.

MyNHLTradeRumors said that Toronto is on to top of the teams that Staal would want to be trasnferred to.

"Would be a 'monumental package' if they are going to trade him. These types of trades always start with a first round pick and good key young prospects like Jake Gardiner and Nazem Kadri. Staal makes $8.25 million this year and next, so the Leafs may want to work out some sort of extension," the report added.

It was, however noted that this move would need a "fall out" from Carolina in the playoffs and for Saal to decide if he can leave his brother Jordan behind in their current team.

An article by Pro Hockey Talk discussed that trading Staal could really be "risky" for Carolina as he is the team captain and he is also a four-time All-Star player.

"[He is] a player who truly blossomed in the Hurricanes' unexpected run to winning the 2006 Stanley Cup," the report noted.

Aside from this, it was noted that Carolina might not be able to get free agents and players to take the place of Staal on the team. It looks like his present team should show him all the appreciation and care right now because it might lose him during the trade period of the season.

And this will become a very big concern for Carolina especially that CBS Sports reported that the Maple Leafs would be very much interested in getting Saal if he is available.

Darren Dreger of TSN told The Score that there had been past discussions between the Hurricanes and the Maple Leafs about the "potential availability of the Hurricanes captain."

"Now the asking price if Eric Staal is available at any point this season prior to the NHL trade deadline is going to be enormous," Dreger added.

CBS Sports noted that Staal trade rumors have been circling for quite sometime -- especially that the Hurricanes has not won for five seasons already. But it also noted the possibility that the captain will remain with the team with his brothers Jordan and Marc.

If in case these forecasts do not happen, another thing that Staal could do is give his best for the team and aim to win this coming season.
