"Kingdom Hearts 3" reportedly has a lot in store for players -- with new, well-known superhero characters coming to the new game. With Disney having acquired Marvel and "Star Wars," could fans see a cross-over of their favorite stories?

According to BreatheCast, "Kingdom Hearts 3" Director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that they have attempted to integrate some famed characters into the new title. However, according to him, it's not all that easy because "there are lots of rules and restrictions by Disney so [they] can't actually put in everything people want."

Let's hope they're able to work out some of the finer details as one of the rumors circulating is that Iron Man, an ever so popular Marvel superhero, is one of the characters they're aiming to incorporate into the game.

Speaking on the direction that they're heading to for the new game and its adventures, as quoted by BreatheCast: "In Kingdom Hearts 3 as well, I am scheming many challenges that Sora and his friends must overcome, because I myself cannot lose either... and in preparation for the great battle that lies ahead, we have this one book that looks back on their entire journey."

The game will be developed via the Unreal Engine 4. Nomura described the development process during a recent interview with Famitsu, via Franchise Herald:

"Development is steadily proceeding as planned. Due to the impacts of changing the game engine to Unreal Engine 4, which we did for various reasons, there is some difficulty rendering images. And with the full support of Epic Games, we'll be able to progress smoothly."

While there is still no no official release date announced, it is believed that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will launch May of 2015 on the Xbox One and PS4.

BreathCast noted that the move to Unreal Engine 4 is a move appreciated by critics but no explanation has been given regarding the decision to veer away from their house engine.

One detail that Gaming Bolt did take away from the comments of Nomura is that "the game isn't as far into development as some of [the] Disney/Square Enix cross over fans may like. This is further supported by Nomura saying they are currently work on 'scenario writing and world selection'".

The game first appeared in 2002 for PS2 which brought together Disney and "Final Fantasy" characters together. In classic Disney fashion, the game became popular with its mission to save the princess and sold nearly 20 million copies globally.

What're your thoughts? Will you be lining up to get your hands on "Kingdom Hearts 3"?
