During the launch of his new line of sneakers on Tuesday at the Nike Headquarters in Oregon, LeBron James finally revealed his weight loss secret to the media.

Earlier this month, photos of the Cleveland Cavaliers star player, who was looking much slimmer, circled online and people started asking how he lost tremendous weight. Finally, during the LeBron 12 sneaker launch, the basketball star revealed that he followed a strict diet for more than two months to reach his weight goal, Yahoo Sports reported.

"I had no sugars, no dairy, I had no carbs. All I ate was meat, fish, veggies and fruit. That's it. For 67 straight days," LeBron explained to members of the press.

He also noted that the diet was more of a "mental challenge" for him but he revealed that he plans to gain weight for the start of the upcoming NBA season.

An E!Online report said that James did not divulge the number of pounds he lost as he joked that he only shed a few but seeing him speak on Friday was allegedly proof that he was bluffing.

Earlier reports of his weight loss said that he has already eliminated about 10 to 12 pounds especially that he is cutting on carbohydrates. Many sports analysts attributed this latest effort from James to his determination to improve especially now that he is back in Cleveland.

There was clearly a time when the basketball superstar looked in his worst state like after his wedding. "I did it to test my fortitude....I lost a ton of weight," he was quoted by GiveMeSport as saying.

In an earlier discussion of his effective diet plan, ESPN's Bill Simmons said that there were already a lot of issues bothering James including his weight.

"His back was bothering him early on. He and Dwyane Wade both have gone to this sort of, I don't know if LeBron is terming it 'paleo', but he's basically gone without carbs," Simmons noted.

Aside from James, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was also earlier reported to be going on a diet and also losing a lot of pounds. His example, according to many, served as an inspiration to James and other basketball players like Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony to also seek a healthier lifestyle.

During the LeBron 12 launch, James also revealed that this new shoe release is a much better version of the previous ones. "The new technology is lightweight. It allows me to explode. When I'm landing it allows me to absorb the landing." Set to be released on Oct. 11, the sneakers will be sold for $200 a pair.

This Nike endorsement is said to be earning James a hefty sum of $20 million annually.
