The prolonged and highly anticipated unveiling of Apple's iPhone 6 and smartwatch took place on Tuesday to the cheers of millions of fans all across the globe. All rumors about the new products were finally put to rest as Apple chief executive officer Timothy Cook made his presentation.

"We've been working incredibly hard on an entirely new product, and we believe this product will redefine what people expect from this category," Mr. Cook said. "It is the next chapter in Apple's story."

Apple has faced harsh criticism over the past few years due to their supposed halt in creating new products. Their last creation was the iPad in 2011, but since that time no other innovative products have been released to the public. The Apple Watch, which seemingly breaks the trend of having an "i" attached to the front of it, should be a great tool in thrusting Apple back into the lime light of tech junkies.

Although companies such as Samsung and Sony already have their equivalent smartwatches, the problem is that they haven't taken off with the same luster as a smart phone. Only about 19 million smartwatches are estimated to be shipped in 2014 in comparison to smartphones, which are estimated to ship approximately 1.2 billion units. Apple is hoping to corner the market and increase the popularity of the smartwatch.

The Apple Watch will differ from Samsung's in the way that it will be much more 'health' oriented, coming equipped with fitness-tracking software. As of late, the world of health and fitness are seemingly exploding across America and the rest of the world. Americans are becoming much more aware of obesity problems and the dire health consequences that it can cause.

The Apple Watch will help keep track of body stats while the user is running, bicycling or even an exercise as simple as walking. The heart rate sensor will also be an interesting tool that allows the user to see how hard they really are exercising.
