The group Hamas apparently isn't giving up fighting in Gaza as they have reportedly just executed more than a dozen suspected spies who were working for Israel.

Hamas gunman reportedly shot to death 18 alleged Israeli spies on Friday. Gaza militants said that the bloodshed was their way of plugging holes in their security, and it was meant as a message for other would-be informants or spies who were trying to share information about Hamas. Fighting in Gaza has flared up again since the end of a ceasefire and the killing of three Hamas commanders in an airstrike by Israel.

The killing of the alleged spies was done in a very public fashion, reports the Associated Press. A total of seven men were lined up with their heads covered in bags, and they were lined up against a wall just outside of a mosque in Gaza City. The men were shot until they died in front of the public, reportedly hundreds watched as the men were shot to death. According to a note that was left on the wall near the shooting site, the men were responsible for leaking information about Hamas' military strategy. That information included the location of militant fighters, where they lived, the location of strategic tunnels, and the placement of rockets. The artillery was then targeted by Israel in recent airstrikes.

It's been a violence summer ever since the Israel-Hamas fighting reignited early last month. Since then there have been a total of approximately 2,092 Palestinians who have been killed in the fighting, according to health officials in Gaza. The United Nations went deeper into the numbers to show that close to 478 children and minors were part of the Palestinian population that has been killed by Israeli attacks. A total of 320 of those children were 12 years old or younger.
