More Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is coming your way as a fifth installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean" has been confirmed for release in 2017.

According to Variety, Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean 5″ will bow into theaters on July 7, 2017, and is in for some heavy competition as opening weekend of the franchise is pegged during the same month as "Despicable Me 3" and "Fantastic Four 2."

The newest flick, titled, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" was initially due out summer of 2015 but has been pushed back due to script issues. In terms of behind-the-scenes names, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer have turned to Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg to steer the film, says The Hollywood Reporter. Jeff Nathanson is said to be penning the screenplay.

Depp, an Oscar-nominated actor for the role of Sparrow, spoke to About.com on playing the iconic role in the past saying: "I kind of like everything about playing him. I feel like he's just good fun to play." He continues to share how appreciative he's been to have landed the role. "I've been very lucky so far, and he's just a really fun character. I certainly wasn't ready to say goodbye to him after the first film. I felt like there was a lot more to be done, more fun to be had."

The widely successful franchise has grossed approximately $3.7 billion worldwide with the last film, "On Stranger Tides," making over $1 billion in sales. Production is said to begin towards the end of the year and will be shot in Puerto Rico and New Orleans, per Deadline.

Aside from Depp, other franchise veterans expected to reprise their roles include Christoph Waltz, Geoffrey Rush, Jack Davenport and Keith Richards.

"Pirates of the Caribbean" is a fantasy adventure starring the 51-year-old Johnny Depp in a fictional-historical setting. Its first film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," was released in 2003. The second film with the subtitle, "Dead Man's Chest," was released in 2006. The third film, "At World's End," followed a year later in 2007 while "On Stranger Tides" landed in May 2011. The movies' gross hit north of $3.7 billion, and "Pirates of the Carribean" is presently the eighth highest-grossing film franchise in history.

There is no word if the upcoming release will be part of another trilogy or series. So far, the news only extends up to the fifth installment due out three years from now.
