While promoting her new film "Lucy," Scarlett Johansson shared a bit about her role as Black Widow in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The pregnant and blooming actress plays the dual persona of skilled assassin, Natasha Romanov and Avengers hero, Black Widow.

According to her interview with IGN, Johansson reveals that she believes Black Widow's power and strength come from her "criminal mind."

"She's a super spy. Her ability to understand the complexity of the criminal mind, she uses that to her advantage," said the 29-year-old. "She's always using her experience in her sordid past to her advantage. I don't think there's any super suit that could supersede that for her."

The actress stresses that under the direction of writer/director Joss Whedon, the sequel isn't going to be a "rehash." The audiences will see the characters mature and evolve. In the film, Black Widow will be seen making critical life-decisions.

"Joss has lived with these characters now for a couple of years, and he is, as you can imagine, obsessed and tirelessly worked to help these characters evolve. Of course, I'm very fortunate that Joss has an affection for female characters in the work that he writes, and an understanding of them."

Aside from "Age of Ultron," Johansson's newest project is "Lucy," a new Luc Besson thriller, where the lead star's physical and intellectual abilities are enhanced due to exposure to a drug that allows her to tap into the full human cerebral capacity, summarizes the Toronoto Sun

Given the strength and power in the characters that Johansson will be bringing to life on the silver screen, is a female empowerment aspect part of her decision-making process when it comes to selecting film roles? She says: "It's [female empowerment impact] a nice byproduct of the choices I've made, but I've never sought out roles that would empower other people."

See Johansson join Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and the rest of of the Marvel gang when "Avengers: Age of Ultron" opens in April of 2015.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is about Tony Stark's plan "that won't require him to put on the Iron Man suit anymore, and should allow Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk to get some much needed R&R as well. His solution is Ultron, self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence designed to help assess threats, and direct Stark's Iron Legion of drones to battle evildoers instead." Unfortunately, it doesn't work out quite the way he planned.

In the mean time, you can hit the theaters and see Johansson's new film, "Lucy," opening on July 25, 2014.
