Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is set to launch a brand new product on June 18.

On Twitter, Amazon invites its followers to request for an invite to the much-awaited device unveiling believed to be the Amazon Kindle 3D smartphone with "holographic" technology.

Yahoo! reports that the sensors enable tilt gestures that also enable free-flowing navigation between apps and pages by simply tiling from one side to another. The site also stated that if the rumors were true, the 3D features will be glasses-free, an innovative feature that no company has issued to date. Amazon is expected to launch two different models of the phone, similar to what the Apple iPhone has been doing over the past years.

BGR, in its exclusive report revealed that "Amazon's first phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and it will also include 2GB of RAM. It will run a heavily customized version of Google's Android operating system similar to the version that powers Amazon's tablets." The tech site added that the phone's display "will measure 4.7 inches diagonally, making the handset's screen a bit smaller than recent flagship offerings from Samsung and HTC. The handset also have comparatively low pixel density, featuring 720p HD resolution compared to 1080p HD resolution on many rival devices."

Amazon released a new teaser video that can be found below. The video is aptly titled, "Find out what these Amazon customers are talking about."

In the video, you can see the phone peaking out around the 0:40 mark. The corner of the phone appears in the lower middle of the frame with what looks like a headphone jack attached to it.

Joining the smarphone war

It seems as if Amazon is positioning itself to rival other tech companies and get a piece of the smartphone market.

"This is a play by Amazon to get a stake in the most ubiquitous device category there is," quoted Bloomberg of Jan Dawson, a technology-industry analyst who runs research and advisory firm Jackdaw.
