Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is still intent on signing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Wenger spoke to the media prior to this weekend's Emirates Cup.

"I don't want to speak about Suarez, because that is between Liverpool and Arsenal. We will completely respect what Liverpool wants to do. We want to (sign the player) if it is feasible in an amicable way," Wenger said. "I am a great believer you have to keep as much confidentiality as possible, which is quite difficult in the modern world.

However, "But we work very hard, not only on the case you name, but on other different cases.''

Wenger originally offered 30 million pounds for the Uruguayan star but was rejected by Liverpool. On his second try he upped the price by 10 million pounds but was told that the bid needed to be higher than 40 million. Wenger then added 1 pound to his bid.

Liverpool recently stated that it would not accept anything less than 50 million for Suarez, a hefty fee for Arsenal to pay.

The striker is a prolific scorer but has spurred controversy for his constant diving and his biting of Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic. Wenger told the press that he would not condone that kind of behavior.

"We have values that we want our players to respect. No matter where they come from, we will be very touchy on that of course," he said. "This club has built a reputation, not only during my period here but over 127 years, and the values that are very important for this club have to be respected by every player, no matter where he comes from. That will be with every potential signing."
