The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to make roster shakeups this offseason, and reports indicated that the team will look to acquire a safety in hopes of solidifying their postseason chances next season.

The Eagles have been struggling to fill the void at safety over the past few seasons, and they are facing the same dilemma this year.

They need at least one more starter or possibly two if the team decides to part ways with Earl Wolff, who failed to live up to expectations last season.

According to Philly.com, the Eagles could make a strong push to acquire Malcolm Jenkins. The 26-year-old safety also failed to live up to expectations in his first five seasons with the New Orleans Saints, but the Eagles are reportedly willing to take a gamble on the former Ohio State standout.

"Considering his combination of upside, age, size, and market value, Malcolm Jenkins may be the safety the Eagles target. A converted cornerback, Jenkins has never quite lived up to expectations, but at only 26 he could benefit from a change of scenery and scheme," Philly.com noted.

Jenkins could be an expendable asset for the Saints after Kenny Vaccaro had an impressive rookie year last season. The Saints also have Rafael Bush waiting in the wings, creating speculation that the Eagles will let go of Jenkins this offseason.

It is unclear, though, how much the Eagles are willing to pay the former Ohio State standout, but it is widely believed that Philadelphia won't overpay to acquire an additional safety, as indicated by Eagles general manager Howie Roeseman.

"Sometimes the option is just to get through the moment and to do some stopgap things, and I'm not necessarily saying that's what we have to do at a particular position," Hoseman said. ""But when you look at the teams that have won the championships over the last couple of years, they're not perfect at 22 spots."

And if they fail to land Jenkins this season, the Eagles might settle with their options in the 2014 NFL Draft in May.

Louisville's Calvin Pryor and Alabama's Ha Ha Clinton-Dix are reportedly on top of their draft board, but it remains to be seen whether or not these safeties will still be on the board when they pick at No. 22 in May's draft.
